With a well designed and frequently updates website, you can capture generate more sales leads. But you'll want to optimize your website for conversions by following these tips.

Most B2B organiztions require some level of phone or face to face contact with a potential client, which is why some users prefer to communicate over the phone or in person as opposed to online. Even so, your website can still help by facilitating these conversions, but you'll need clear and transparent contact information. If a prospect doesn't want to request information  online, he or she may look for your phone number. And if your phone number isn't listed on your website, that prospect may take his or her money elsewhere. You should try to give your B2B leads multiple options for communcating with you.

    Make it Mobile Friendly

Is your website compatible on mobile devices? Studies show that more people now access the Internet on smartphones and other mobile devices than desktops. So, failure to provide a mobile-friendly environment will almost certainly cost you sales.

You can check to see if your website is mobile friendly by using Google's free testing tool at https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly.

    Reduce Load Times

Another commonly overlooked element of websites is the load time. Even if your website has been designed with a focus on generating sales/conversions, a sluggish performance could hinder its effectiveness. Amazon conducted a study several years ago in which it discovered that for every 100ms increase in load times it lost 1% sales.

You can reduce your sales website's load times by doing the following:

    • Shrink images before uploading them to your website.
    • Use a content delivery network (CDN) to reduce physical distances between your server (technically servers) and visitors.
    • Enable GZIP compression (instructions here).
    • Choose a high-quality, trusted web hosting provider.
    • Optimize the delivery of CSS.

    Include a Call to Action

Add a call to action somewhere in your website, instructing visitors on how to take action; regardless of whether that means make a purchase, or request catalogs...  This can be something as simple as a hyperlinked text saying “CLICK HERE TO BUY,” or you can add a button or image for your CTA. The bottom line, however, is that your website needs to instruct visitors on how to facilitate the sales process so you can at a minimum capture their contact information.
