    SalesLeads experienced research team identified 447 new planned industrial projects during the month of May 2017. Below are a few of highlights on major industrial projects and noticable trends.

    Most New Active Industrial Projects:

    Texas led the way with 34 new planned industrial projects. Followed by California with 29 planned projects, New York with 24, Ohio with 22, and Indiana rounding out the top 5 with 21 new projects.

     

    Most Active Sectors:

    "OEM Manufacturing" led the way with 103 new planned projects. A few additional highlighted sectors with significant project activity are listed below.

    • Food and Beverage - 87 New Projects
    • Building Materials - 42 New Projects
    • Pharmaceuticals/Biotech - 35 New Projects
    • Consumer Goods Manufacturing - 33 New Projects
    • Chemicals - 10 New Projects
    • Oil and Gas Production - 10 New Projects

     

    Most Active Company:

    Fedex Corp. was the most active company, with 4 new planned distribution centers in the US. Ford Motor Corp. was not far behind with 3 new planned expansion and equipment modernization projects in the works. 

     

    Largest Planned Project:

    During the month of May, our research team generated 25 new industrial reports on projects with an estimated investment value of $100 million or more.

    The largest planned project is owned by Nova Chemicals, who is planning to invest $1.3 billion for the construction of a new ethylene cracker plant in PORT ARTHUR, TX.

    The 2nd largest industrial project in May is owned by Michigan Potash Company; who is planning to invest $700 million for the construction of a new extraction and processing facility on a 40-acre site in EVART, MI.

     

    Highlighted Projects:

    ALABAMA:

    Building materials mfr. is planning to invest $220 million for the construction of a manufacturing facility at the South Industrial Park in PRATTVILLE, AL. They have recently received approval for the project.

    COLORADO:

    Biotechnology company is planning to invest $15 million for an expansion and equipment upgrades at their manufacturing facility in BOULDER, CO. Completion is slated for late 2017.

    GEORGIA:

    Custom glass products mfr. has recently started on the renovation and equipment upgrades at a recently acquired 43,000 sf glass fabrication facility in AUSTELL, GA. They expect to start operations in late 2017.

    IOWA: 

    Window and door mfr. is planning for the construction of a new 160,000 sf manufacturing facility on Hwy. 28 and Delaware St. in NORWALK, IA. Construction is expected to start in July 2017.

    INDIANA:

    Specialty composite manufacturing company is investing $8 million for the expansion of their production facility in FORT WAYNE, IN by 50,000 sf. They have recently started construction, with completion slated for late 2017.

    KENTUCKY:

    Aluminum mfr. is planning to invest $125 million for the construction of a new cold rolling manufacturing mill at 6920 Lewisburg Rd. in RUSSELLVILLE, KY. Construction is expected to be completed in early 2019.

    MICHIGAN: 

    Plastic products mfr. is investing $20 million for the construction of a 135,000 sf corporate HQ and manufacturing facility at Oakland Technology Park in AUBURN HILLS, MI. They plan to relocate and consolidate 3 regional operations upon completion in Summer 2018.

    MINNESOTA: 

    Contract food mfr. has recently agreed to pre-lease a 74,000 sf warehouse in ALBERT LEA, MN. Construction is expected to start in late June 2017. They also plan for the expansion and equipment upgrades at their processing facility by late 2017.

    NORTH CAROLINA: 

    Automotive parts mfr. is planning to invest $15 million for the renovation and equipment upgrades at a 50,000 sf manufacturing, office, and research facility in TAYLORSVILLE, NC. Construction is expected to start in late 2017, with completion slated for 2018. The site will allow for future expansion.

    NEW YORK: 

    Specialty medical equipment mfr. is planning to invest $30 million for the construction of an 112,000 sf manufacturing facility in PORT WASHINGTON, NY. Completion is slated for July 2019.

    WISCONSIN: 

    Glass mfr. is planning to invest $10 million for the construction of a 232,000 sf warehouse at 1650 Mohr Rd. in PORTAGE, WI. The project includes renovations and equipment upgrades to their existing manufacturing facility. They are currently seeking approval for the project.
