Planned Commercial Office Project Activity - April 2017 Recap

SalesLeads' experienced research team identified 494 new, planned commercial office relocation, expansion, new construction, and renovation projects during the month of April 2017. Below are a few of highlights on major projects throughout the United States and Canada.

Most New Office Projects:

Texas led the way with 68 new planned commercial office construction and relocation projects; with 22 new projects in the Houston area, 21 projects in the DFW area, and 15 in the Austin area.

California followed just behind with 57 new projects; with 24 new projects in the Los Angeles area and 23 in the San Francisco.

Most Active Company:

Amazon.com, Inc.(Seattle, WA), was the most active company, with 7 new projects in the planning stages; including a buildout of 400,000 sf of space in Herndon, VA for their Web Services Unit and a 23,000 sf office renovation in Atlanta, GA.

Largest Planned Project:

During the month of April, our research team identified 12 new office construction projects with an estimated investment value of $100 million or more. The largest planned project is owned by Ford Motor Company(Detroit, MI), with a $200 million office and R&D campus in Flat Rock, MI.

NORCROSS, GA: 

Gate and garage door systems mfr. is planning to renovate and equip a 96,000 sf distribution and training facility at 6375 Best Friend Rd. in NORCROSS, GA. They have recently received approval for the project.

MEDFORD, MA:

Translation services provider has recently agreed to pre-lease 12,000 sf of office space at 101 Station Landing in MEDFORD, MA. They plan to relocate their corporate HQ in Nov. 2017. 

CHARLOTTE, NC: 

University has recently agreed to pre-lease 26,500 sf of office space at 1515 Mockingbird Lane in CHARLOTTE, NC. They plan to relocate upon completion in early Fall 2017.

CLEVELAND, OH: 

Start-up business incubator is planning for the construction of an office facility at the northwest corner of East 81st Street and Kinsman Road in CLEVELAND, OH. Construction is expected to start in Summer 2017, with completion slated for early 2018.

PLANO, TX: 

Financial service provider is planning for the construction of an office facility at 4700 Dexter Dr. in PLANO, TX. Construction is expected to start in May 2017. They plan to relocate upon completion in January 2018.

ROYAL OAK, MI:

City agency is planning to invest $15 million for the construction of a 38,000 sf law enforcement and admin. facility in ROYAL OAK, MI. They are currently seeking approval for the project. Construction is expected to start in Aug. 2017. They plan to relocate upon completion.

OLATHE, KS:

Engineering consulting firm is planning to invest $21 million for the construction of a two-story, 65,000 sf corporate HQ in OLATHE, KS. They have recently received approval for the project. They plan to relocate upon completion in early 2018.

MIAMI BEACH, FL:

Global event and technology services company has recently agreed to lease 10,000 sf of office space at 1688 Meridian Ave. in MIAMI BEACH, FL. They plan to relocate in Fall 2017.
